In Honor of Gladys Overton
Widows and Orphans of God Inc., dba Women of GoodWorks, takes immense pride in honoring Gladys Overton, a remarkable individual whose vision and dedication led to the formation of our organization back in August 2007. As she approaches her centenary milestone, Gladys continues to inspire us all with her unwavering commitment to our cause.
Gladys Overton has remained a vital part of our organization, attending Executive Board Meetings, participating in outreach events, and providing assistance to seniors in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas by distributing food, clothing, and household items. Her exemplary service extends back to her tenure as Secretary of the Executive Board from 2007 to 2010.
Before her retirement, Gladys served the nation through her roles in federal service, contributing to the Air Traffic Control Center in Memphis, TN, and Naval Personnel in Millington, TN, with dedication and excellence.
To commemorate Gladys's remarkable journey and contributions, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the creation of The Gladys Overton Seniors Outreach Project on September 6, 2023. This initiative is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals aged 65 and above. Services offered include food assistance, clothing provisions, furniture support, housing aid, caregiver referrals, and administrative assistance. We aim to assist seniors in navigating and accessing essential resources from federal, local, and corporate entities.
The success of The Gladys Overton Seniors Outreach Project relies on the generosity of individuals like you. Funding for this project will be sourced through public free-will donations, grants, contracts, and related financial support.
